Dr.
Anbumani Ramadoss, the former Union
Minister, has condemned the makers
of Asal for incorporating scenes that
show the film’s lead star Ajith
smoking. According to Anbumani, he
came to know about the scenes in which
Ajith is portrayed as blowing cigars.
This will set a bad example to the
younger generation, he had said. The
member of the Pasumai Thayagam, which
is headed by Anbumani, displayed banners
on the huge cutouts that are erected
in a theatre in Chennai against smoking.
In a letter to the film’s director
Saran, producer Sivaji Films, and
actor Ajith, Anbumani had mentioned
that actors like Rajini, Kamal, Vijay
and Suriya have vouched that they
would never don roles that require
them blowing cigars or cigarettes
hence forth. Likewise, AVM productions
has also decided not to include such
scenes in their films. The former
minister requested the actor to refrain
from such acts and be an example to
the younger generation. |
