Rousing reception for Rahman!

Oscar winner A.R. Rahman arrived at the International airport in Chennai at 2:30 am today (February 26th). On behalf of the government, the state Information Minister Parithi Ilamvazhuthi was there to receive Rahman.

The Mozart of Madras, as he popularly known, was welcomed to the drums of noted drummer Sivamani and his troupe. An ecstatic Rahman said: “This (Oscar awards) is for the younger generation. I am

told now that I have already crossed a major phase of my life. I hope they take inspiration from this and spread the message of peace and love.”

On behalf of the Indian Airlines Kottu Melam troupe from Kerala performed at the airport to welcome Rahman.

The hero’s welcome continued till he reached his home. The musician was amused to see two huge statuettes of Oscar at the entrance of his street.
