Kanthaswamy’s
shooting in Tharamani, Chennai, was
interrupted yesterday for a most unexpected
reason. Some of the crewmembers noticed
that a neem tree had begun to ooze
a milk-ish white substance. It was
seen by many there as a sacred thing;
the presence of something holy, and
the cast and crew momentarily took
a break from shooting. A small crowd
from the crew gathered around as one
of the assistant artists began to
dance, and people began to whisper,
“Saamy vandirku”. Among
