The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha handed over a cheque of Rs. 25 lakhs for the Chennai International Film Festival. The 9th CIFF will kick start on December 14th and go on till the 25th. On behalf of the Tamil Nadu government, the CM handed over the cheque which will help the organizers to meet the expenses in conducting this event.
The Nadigar Sangam president Sarath Kumar, actresses Suhasini Mani Ratnam and Lizzy Priyadarshan were present during this meet when the CM gave away the cheque. The CIFF organizers thanked the CM for her kind gesture and requested her to grace the occasion as a chief guest.
About 140 films from various countries will be screened in about five theatres in the city.
