Kollywood might not have something to relate
with Christmas as producers and actors never
intended to release their movies for the season.
But Bollywood has always shared close connection
with Christmas. Looks like B-town has become
Santa’s favorite destination as the
films released on Christmas become a blockbuster.
Ah! That’s pretty astonishing isn’t?
Well it started off few years back as Bollywood
icons started eyeing Xmas as the best occasion
to release their Big Tickets.
Again, it's Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan,
the architecture of this formula who has been
successful in this.
• Taare Zameen Par released on Dec 21,
2007 witnessed an incredulous success. The
film was eventually gemmed with critical acclaims
and big collections in global box office.
The film had Darsheel Safary in lead role
while Aamir Khan played an important character
appearing in post-intermission sequences.
The film reached towards the far-flung corners
for its enlightening theme.
• A year later, it was Aamir’s
yet another turn to turn global spotlight
upon him. Aye! it was ‘Ghajini’
– The Blockbuster Dhamaka. The producers’
sacs were overloaded with big profits and
Aamir Khan peaked over the clouds. ‘Ghajini’
marked a great opening for South Indian filmmaker
A.R. Murugadoss and actress Asin. The film
was released on December 25, 2008
• A commendable hat-trick to call upon.
Aamir Khan’s ‘3 Idiots’
wiped out his yesteryear records becoming
one of the biggest grosser of this decade.
Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the film had
its fame right from its First Look as the
audiences were awestruck with Aamir Khan’s
tremendous changeover from ‘6-Pack Mammoth’
to a shrimpy student. Producer Vidhu Vinod
Chopra streaked success once again with his
favorite Raju. The film was released on Christmas
Eve (December 24).
• This year, Aamir Khan steps out of
‘Christmas mania’ as his ‘Dhobi
Ghat’ will hit screens during third
week of Jan 2011. But it’s gonna be
the clash of the titans – Akshay Kumar
and Ajay Devgn. With the biggies ‘Tees
Maar Khan’ and ‘Toonpur Ka Superhero’
hitting screens on Dec 24. Farah Khan already
has couple of blockbusters in her list and
it has gained much publicity for TMK while
Ajay Devgn touched the surpassing levels of
his career in 2010 with continuous hits –
Rajaneethi, Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, Golmaal
Returns and Aakrosh.
So let’s get ready for the Christmas
Party with these flicks and let’s see
who’s gonna be the Santa Clause’s
chosen one.
