Thottu Paar’s audio was launched
today by the minister for information
in Tamil Nadu, Parithi Ilamvazhuthi
at a function. The film is directed
by Nandhu, an erstwhile assistant
to directors Priyadarshan and Perarasu.
The film is produced by AR Rahman’s
sound engineer Siva Kumar. Speaking
at the function, the minister said
that Nandhu is the son of Keerapalayam
Veeramani, a prominent member in
the DMK. He recalled that Nandhu’s
father used to pen songs for the
party.
Director Perararsu, during his
speech, said that he suffers from
stage fright and this time around
his nervousness increased as he
was seated between Namitha and the
film’s heroine. He also jocularly
mentioned that the film’s
title Thottu Paar added to this
fright. Perarasu was not parsimonious
in praising his former assistant.
He said that the three songs and
the trailer showed to the audience
were proof that yet another director
specializing in commercial films
is ready for recognition.
Namitha said that a director, producer
and actors are important for a film’s
success. But nowadays the music
directors also are very vital, because
a film’s success is determined
by its music. She added that Srikanth
Deva was instrumental in catapulting
her success rate in the film industry
by setting tunes to the film Yei.
Of the three songs that had been
screened, one was the song rendered
by Silambarasan and Suchitra and
the other was a remix from Paayum
Puli. The remix song is worth a
mention here because the song’s
originality is retained without
any heavy drum beats.
Thottu Paar’s cinematography
is worth a mention here and the
camera has been wielded by Nirav
Shah’s assistant.
