The Malayalam film stars
association, Association of Malayalam Movie
Artists (AMMA), was against Kamal Haasan
being honored by the Kerala government as
part of the Onam celebrations in the state.
It issued a diktat to all its members not
to participate in the event and later amended
it stating that actors and actresses can
participate in their individual capacity.
However, none of the stars were present
at this event which had the Kerala Chief
Minister VS Achuthananthan condemning the
stars.
Following this, AMMA has issued a statement
in which it has said that the Malayali actors
are not against Kamal being honored but
were perturbed with the government for not
discussing the issue with them and for not
inviting them the right way.
