Gopi Sastri of Samarth Creations has filed
a petition at the court seeking a stay on
the release of Kadhal Solla Vandhen, directed
by Boopathy Pandian. According to the producer,
the director entered into an agreement with
him to direct a film titled Naanum En Sandhyavum,
in 2005. But Boopathy Pandian, even after
accepting an advance of Rs. 99,000 refused
to commence the film. He moved on to direct
Malaikottai and Thiruvilaiyadal Aarambam
and reportedly told Sastri that Naanum En
Sandhyavum cannot be completed within a
budget of Rs. 99 lakhs, as stipulated in
the agreement.
The producer, in his petition has alleged
that the story of Kadhal Solla Vandhen is
similar to Naanum En Sandhyavum and hence
the release of this film should be stayed
or he should be given a compensation of
Rs. 23 lakhs.
