The Malayalam version of Katha Parayum
Pol, which was penned by Srinivasan,
went on to become a big hit. The film’s
director, Mohanan, after watching Kuselan,
has said that unnecessary additions
and vulgar comedy had diluted the story.

action and Rajini’s action, particularly
during the last 20 minutes, were the only
saving grace in the entire film. However,
he had one regret after seeing the Tamil version.
According to Mohanan, the song Chinnamma Chellamma,
which was picturised on Pasupathy and Meena,
assayed the family sentiment and felt he could
have used such a sequence in Katha Parayum
