The Tamil Nadu government, for the first
time, presented awards for TV serials and
artistes yesterday (08-08-08). Kushboo was
adjudged as the best actress for her performance
in Kalki and Abishek took home the best
actor award for his role in Malargal. Radhika
Sarath Kumar’s Raadan TV was awarded
for producing the best serial Selvi. The
best character artistes’ award for
male and female category went to Delhi Kumar
and Devi Priya for their performance in
Aanandham and Sorgam respectively. Master
Bharath took home the best child artiste’s
award for his role in My Dear Bootham. Speaking
at the function, Kushboo said that Tamil
Nadu is the first state in India to recognize
the efforts of small screen artistes by
presenting them awards. Radhika also echoed
her sentiments and added that the artistes
must be ever thankful for the chief minister’s
gesture. The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Dr.
M. Karunanidhi presented the awards and
cash rewards. The Minister for Information
Parithi Ellamvazhuthi welcomed the gathering
and the director of information department
Mr. A.C. Mohan Das proposed the vote of
thanks.
