Kavignar
Poovai Senguttuvan’s Thirukural Tharum
Porul was released in the form of a CD by maestro
Ilayaraja and it was received by comedian Vivek.
The event took place at the Narada Gana Sabha
in Chennai on April 25th, 2010.
While speaking at the function, Ilayaraja recalled
the day when he had an opportunity to meet Poovai
Senguttuvan for the first time. Ilayaraja said
that it was this poet’s lyrics that he
had set to tune when he made his debut in Kollywood.
Vivek said that when he once discussed Ilayaraja’s
Thiruvasagam with Vadivelu, the actor asked
when the movie was due for a release. The actor
added that he explained that it was not a film
but a religious compilation of verses which
were set to tune by the maestro. Vivek said
that music is the only form that can remain
intact forever.
Kavignar Poovai Senguttuvan said that it took
him eight months to pen the lyrics for Thirukural
Tharum Porul and another two and half years
to set them to tune.
Film personalities that were present at the
function include S.Ve Sekar, VC Guhanathan,
AL Azhagappan, director Vijay, actor Udaya and
others. |
