A
fund raiser program will be conducted at the
Nehru Stadium on April 18, 2010 in an effort
to collect funds to establish an orphanage for
children affected by HIV/AIDS in Chennai.
The World Malayalee Council and Madras Medical
Mission who are part of Hridayaragam that helps
conduct heart surgeries for poor patients have
taken this initiative to raise funds for this
noble cause.
Kamal Hassan was part of this event and handed
over letter of appreciation and the first ticket
for the event. He also announced the names of
160 beneficiaries for whom free heart surgeries
were conducted with the amount collected in
2006 and 2008.
The Malayalam as well as the Tamil film industries
will be part of this fund raiser event for which
the tickets will be priced at Rs 250, 500, 2000,
5000 and 10,000.
The actor while speaking at the event that was
held at Green Park Hotel, Chennai lauded the
effort of the Tamil Nadu government in providing
health insurance scheme to the economically
backward people in the state. He also said that
Tamil Nadu has been a frontrunner in announcing
this scheme that even the US government has
approved only recently. |
