“Oh no! This is not that type of movie”

There have been reports that Vijayakanth starrer Mariyadhai may not reach theaters this weekend (Apr. 10) as earlier announced. While the actual reasons behind the delay are not clear there have been quite a few voices suggesting that the upcoming General Elections necessitated the delay.

There has been talk that the film contains some very strong dialogues with political overtones and that releasing such a movie very close to the elections

might not be the best thing to do. There are also reports of a plan to lodge a complaint with the election commission to postpone the release of the movie.

However, Vikraman has denied this and stated that the movie is a wholesome family entertainer similar to Vaanathai Pola. He also added that he respects the election norms and has not violated any of them in his movie. He has urged the forces acting against the movie not to create any unwanted hindrance in the release process.
