Padmavathi Ammaiyar Trust holds grand function

The Padmavathi Ammaiyar Trust distributed cycles and many other articles to least 3000 people at a grand function organized at the Santhome School Auditorium. The trust is being run by Dr. Mu Ka Mu Arivunidhi, son of actor Mu Ka Muthu. The trust has been named after Dr. Arivunidhi’s mother. The function was attended by many eminent personalities from the cine music field including Balamuralikrishna, T.M. Soundarrajan, M.S. Viswanathan and Ramamurthy.

The event was a grand affair that, going by the season’s flavor, it could have been mistaken for an election meeting. However, the multicolor flags at the entrance made it clear that there was nothing political about the event. There was a lot of police protection around the venue after a few stray incidents earlier in the day when hoardings of Dr. Arivunidhi were vandalized.

The evening also had a few colorful programs which included performances by singers Prashanthini, Mahathi and a stunning dance performance to the tunes of ‘Azeem-o-shaan-shahenshah’ from Jodha Akbar. Dr. Arivunidhi felicitated all the special guests by presenting them with gold chains as tokens of appreciation. The crowd present was rooting for Dr. Arivunidhi and went into raptures every time his name was mentioned. He was garlanded, rather reluctantly. He politely refused a crown that was meant to be placed on his head. Following the felicitation, close to 3000 people present were given cycles and other articles.
