The audio launch of Vijayakanth's latest movie Virudhagiri
was held at the Chennai Trade Center at Nandambakkam,
Chennai. The launch was attended by a huge number
of fans and celebrities from the Kollywood circle.
As is the case in Vijaykanth's movies, the audio launch
too was a grand and unique affair.
Mega Murasu
While fans of Vijayakanth entered the hall with a
huge Murasu, there was tremendous applause and expectation
in the hall. The Murasu was then taken on stage and
was designed in such a way that the CD came out of
it when Vijayakanth struck it once. With graffiti
flying all around, the audio CD was released by Vijayakanth
himself and the first copy was received by Sathyaraj.
Murugadoss' Kallakuruchi wedding
Speaking at the occasion, AR Murugadoss recalled an
incident which happened at the AVM studios after the
success of Ramana. He said that Vijayakanth asked
him to get married soon as he was already a successful
director. "I requested Sir to take charge and
conduct my wedding in Kallakurichi", he said.
Murugadoss said that since Vijayakanth sir has a lot
of fans in Kallakurichi, he hesitated because of the
crowd. He thanked Vijayakanth for making his marriage
ceremony a huge function. Praising his kind heart,
he said, "I had never seen such a crowd for a
wedding".
Captain of the ship: Cheran
Cheran was in his usual self when speaking about Vijayakanth.
He said that most people in the industry call him
'Captain' but here he is the 'Captain of the Ship'.
He said that the reason behind this is that he is
the director of the movie as well and so it is right
to call him the Captain of the ship. Lauding Vijayakanth's
efforts in helping people, he said that he must come
to power so that people can benefit. "Having
been in the industry for so long, I know that he is
a very nice man and can change the lives of people",
Cheran concluded.
I won't call him Captain
Sathyaraj gave his thumbs up for his friend Vijayakanth.
Recollecting that Vijayakanth has been his friend
for 30 years, Sathyaraj said that he won't call him
Captain as everyone does. The reason for this, he
said, is because Vijayakanth is going to be awarded
a Doctorate by an American University soon. "I
will call him Dr. Captain after that", he said
inviting huge response from the audience. He also
said that he calls Vijayakanth by the name 'Viji'
and they are 'Nanbenda' friends. "He has helped
me a lot and I will help him when it is the right
time", he said while ending his speech.
Cheranji, Snehanji, 2G
It was time for the Captain of the ship to say a few
words and he did not disappoint. Thanking the cast
and crew for the support, Vijayakanth pointed out
the various hurdles the movie had to face before its
release. Lashing out at the non-availability of theatres
created by certain people, he said that he will ensure
Virudhagiri is a success. Referring to people addressing
each other with the suffix ‘ji’, like
Cheranji, he said that he did not understand what
it was and later found out that everyone is talking
about 2G Spectrum. “It has become a national
shame and the scam is a scar on the government’s
face”, he roared.
The function was attended by a host of celebrities
including music director Sundar C. Babu, Shoba Chandrasekar,
Mansoor Ali Khan, RK Selvamani, Vikraman, Na. Nuthukumar,
Vinu Chakravarthy, Monica, Santhana Bharathy, A Venkatesh,
T Siva, K Muralidharan and several others. |
