Gautham
Menon – a multi-faceted genius
It’s Gautham Menon era in K-town. The filmmaker’s
audacious approach towards various arenas of showbiz
makes him very distinct. Having wielded megaphones
for ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya’ and its
Telugu version ‘Ye Maaya Chesavo’, the
filmmaker has wrapped up his next film ‘Nadunisi
Naigal’ scheduled for January release. Apart
from production of films, he floated his audio company
‘Photon Kathaas Music’ with ‘Kanden’
as the first album. ‘Veppam’ is directed
by debutant Anjana, once an associate of Gautham Menon
and features Telugu actor Naani, Karthik Kumar and
newcomer Bindhu Madhavi in lead roles.
An occasion spangled with celebrities
On 31st December 2010, Gautham’s production
‘Veppam’ had the audio launched at Sathyam
Cinemas that was attended by high-profile celebrities
of Kollywood. Suhasini Mani Ratnam was the guest of
honor launching the film’s audio. Actor Parthiban,
Lingusamy, KV Anand, Poornima, filmmaker Radha Mohan,
Sasi of ‘Poo’ fame, Nasser, Vivek, Santhanoo
and many others were present.
What’s special?
Gautham Menon crossed the usual limits and adorned
the occasion with some additional attributes. A docu-type
video featuring the recording sessions and Gautham’s
chat with playback singers, lyric writer Na. Muthukumar
and music writer Joshua Sridhar were screened. The
lead actress Bindhu Madhavi and director Anjana were
also spotted in the videos. It offered a new experience
for the special invitees as they could inherit the
distinct theme of this film. The video had a running
length of approximately 35mins followed by screening
of couple of songs and trailer. The additional bonanza
was the sleek trailer of Gautham Menon’s upcoming
directorial ‘Nadunisi Naigal’.
After Mani Ratnam, it is Gautham Menon
Suhasini came up with a pat on Gautham’s shoulder
acclaiming that after Mani Ratnam, its Gautham Menon
making city based films.
I was about to give up films
Music director Joshua Sridhar, who made his debut
with ‘Kaadhal’ has scored music for this
film. Joshua confessed that he was about to quit films
as he couldn’t find best projects. He acclaims
that Anjana appeared at such a situation and floored
him with her brilliant script. |
