THE
RAAVAN FEVER CATCHES UP! |
|
We can forgive Mani momentarily for not
having released the Tamil audio of Raavan(an)
simultaneously with the Hindi audio launch.
Like the good old cliché, the best
things in life are probably reserved for
the last. The Hindi album will appease
us for now which features 6 of Rahman’s
best songs, heard in the near future.
For starters, the album’s songs
(Beera Beera, Behene De, Thok De Killi,
Ranjha Ranjha, Khilli Re, Kata Kata) are
penned by the timeless Gulzar and rendered
by the most diverse singers Rahman handpicked.
Anuradha Sriram is seen on the list after
a while in Rahman’s composition.
So are Ila Arun and Sapna Awasthi, the
two singers known mainly for their crusty
voice. Ila was seen (heard) in Slumdog
Millionaire. And there is the Rahman regulars
Sukhwinder Singh and Karthik.
There’s every reason that makes
the excitement about Raavan build up and
it’s not limited only to the release
of the Tamil album. For starters, the
teaser trailer (curiously only the Hindi
version seems to have been released so
far) looks awesome.
What with Abhi taking a jaw dropping plunge
from the frighteningly high hillocks of
Hogenakkal into the waters below and the
Beera Beera song in the background contemplating
the riveting scene, the

teaser trailer is already a hit garnering enough attention
for the movie. Apart from that, a few images of the
movie being circulated as email forwards promise a
raw and intense ride into varied human emotions.
We do not have Abhishek in the Tamil version but Vikram
is in his role. Talking of which, Vikram has probably
never been put through such gruelling shoots after
his Kaasi days, physically and mentally that is. Here
is how. Vikram plays the title role (Beera) with negative
shades in the Tamil version. Simultaneously he also
performs the goodie-good role of Aishwarya’s
husband Dev in Hindi. And both the shoots took place
concurrently at the same location. Although we know
Vikram is brilliant with changing emotions in a jiffy
and getting into the skin of the character, it’s
understandable that it would have been a tough task
even for a versatile actor like him to perform two
diverse roles simultaneously.
Vikram reportedly said no to the Dev character when
it was offered to him by Mani. Of all, Vikram was
wary about his Hindi pronunciation. Duh, we say.
Raavan is expected to be released in the month of
June. Simultaneously in Tamil and Hindi we suppose.
And we sincerely hope Mani is pulling his socks up
for the Tamil audio launch. After all, how long should
good things wait? For now, our play list is on the
loop playing Raavan’s song like a million times
a day. We can’t be blamed, can we? |
