A few days back the teaser of Deiva Thirumagan directed
by AL Vijay was released and the occasion was used
primarily to introduce the title of the film which
was variously speculated by the media. And on 14th
April 2011, the audio of the film scored by G V
Prakashkumar was launched at the Chennai Trade Centre
at Nandambakkam, Chennai in the evening amidst much
glitz and fanfare.
Incidentally the music of director Vijay’s
earlier film Madarasapattinam was also launched
at the same venue with a majestic set reminiscent
of the old Madras Presidency. This time around for
DT, a class room like set was put up from the entrance
to the venue which amused the invitees. This event
witnessed the release of the audio and also the
screening of a few songs and their making. All the
male members of the crew had sported dark colored
three piece suit which gave them a dapper look.
All the dignitaries had good words about the producer
Mohan Natrajan, director Vijay and music director
G V Prakash. Lyricist Naa Muthukumar wittingly said
that after his wedding, he is taking out his suit
only now.
Vennilave
The event formally commenced with an invocation
song followed by a welcome note. The first song
‘Vennilave’ was announced by directors
Vasanth and Chimbu Devan. Director Vasanth mentioned
that Chiyan’s performance in the teaser of
DT floored him and he placed Vikram in between Kamal
and Suriya. Chimbu Devan stated that Vijay always
tries different genres which may appear simple but
his premise is always a tough one. G V also crooned
this song for the audience.
Anushka and Amala Paul
When the lady leads of the film were introduced,
it brought a thunderous applause from the audience.
Anushka was as usual her ravishing best in a light
greenish yellow churidar embellished with thread
work and Amala Paul was seen in a violet and green
combination gown.
Vizhigalile
The second song Vizhigalile was introduced by Karthi
and director Suseendiran. Karthi who looked dashing
in his jean and a full sleeved violet shirt quipped
that he was jealous of Arya in Madarasapattinam
and is eager to work with Vijay. He furthered that
the teaser was very simple devoid of ostentation
which increases the curiosity levels about the film.
“Deiva Thirumagan is a celebration of love
and the teamwork of Vijay, Vikram, Anushka and GV
is sure to rock.”
On his part, director Suseendiran said that he is
jealous of director Vijay and his energy levels
as he has completed a film in such a short notice.
He opined that DT will be liked by everyone.
After this, the song was screened which was rich
in aesthetic visual appeal, shot in rain with Anushka
riding a bike and Vikram at the pillion. The innocent
exuberance of Vikram and the passion in Anushka’s
eyes looking at Vikram through the rear view mirror
was simply lyrical and no amount of words can bring
out this feeling. This number could well be spoken
for its camera work in addition to the performance
of the lead actors. The making of the song was also
revealed.
Vikram
Vikram made his grand appearance via the magic box
in the magic show that was being performed as fillers
but he said that he is reserving his speech for
the climax.
Jagada Thom
The third song of DT was introduced by the Madarasapattinam
pair Arya and Amy Jackson who charmed the audience
when she asked Arya ‘Maranduttiya’.
Arya making use of her non understanding of the
language brought in some funny moments.
Paapa Paapa
Actors Shakthi and Jithan Ramesh introduced the
fourth song Paapa Paapa. When Shakthi spoke, he
was much appreciative of Vijay and Vikram and said
that anyone can become a Cheeyan but no one can
become Deiva Thirumagan. The song was also screened
for the audience.
The crew
Post this number, the crew was called on to the
stage and introduced which consisted of Editor Anthony,
Cameraman Nirav Shah, Choreographer Gayathri Raghuram,
Art Director Santhanam, M S Bhaskar, Nasser in addition
to Anushka, Amala Paul and Vikram.
Thanks Saindhavi
Nasser stated that Vikram is his source of inspiration
and his commitment and dedication to work is simply
mind-blowing. M S Bhasker declared that Vikram is
God’s own child. Amala Paul attempted to speak
in Tamil and also managed quite well. She said that
she was looking out for performance oriented roles
after Myna and Vijay provided her with the right
fodder in DT. She thanked the director, producer,
Vikram and the entire cast. Anushka attempted to
talk in Tamil but quickly changed to English. After
thanking her producer for giving her such a wonderful
opportunity in DT, she added, “It was a good
learning experience for me and both director Vijay
and Vikram’s experience have helped me a great
deal. Deiva Thirumagan is replete with emotions.”
She also specially thanked GV’s fiancée
Saindhavi who had rendered a song featuring her.
The formal launch
After this, the audio was formally released by Rama
Narayanan, President of Producer’s Council
and was received by director Priyadarshan. Also
present at the occasion were FEFSI Chief V C Guhanathan
and Sivasakthi Pandian, General Secretary of Producer
council. Priyadarshan wished his dearest disciple
(Vijay) all success and said that he is very proud
of his student’s growth. Rama Narayanan was
very sure of the success of Deiva Thirumagan but
wondered whether it would be silver jubilee or golden
jubilee. When V C Guhanathan spoke, he opined that
for Sivaji Ganesan it was Deiva Magan, for Kamal
it was Dasavatharam and for Vikram it is going to
be Deiva Thirumagan.
Aareeraro
This melodious ditty was introduced by Lizzy Priyadarshan
and Saindhavi. Saindhavi said that it is her second
song for GV and Vijay combination. Lizzy wished
the crew and the film all success. Haricharan rendered
this number for the audience in his mesmerizing
voice which was received with loud applause.
Kadai Solla Pogirom
Kadai Solla Pogirom was brought in by director Jeyam
Raja and educationist Isari Ganesh who informed
the audience that director Vijay was his student
in his Vel’s University. Jeyam Raja, smart
in a green checked shirt stated that Vijay’s
success is his success. This was followed by the
screening of the song which appealed to everyone
for its freshness in picturization. Sara, daughter
of Vikram wants him to tell a bedroom story and
how he manages this with his helpers was quite interesting
to watch. The juxtaposition of story characters
with the original ones brought in cheer from the
audience. This number will appeal to the children.
Life is beautiful
Finally the theme music ‘Life is beautiful’
was introduced by cartoonist Madan and Vijay’s
dad AL Azhagappan. In his brief speech Madan said
that Vijay knows the pulse of the audience very
well. AL Azhagappan thanked producer Mohan Natarajan
and the entire crew of Deiva Thirumagan.
Baby Sara
Baby Sara was cuteness personified when she appeared
on the stage. It is her innocence that caught the
attention of everyone and there was no ‘reelness’
in it. In her own childish language, she thanked
Vijay, Vikram and Anushka deedi and the expression
of Anushka on hearing this is a million bucks worth.
Cheeyan
Lastly when Cheeyan appeared on stage as promised,
it took some time for the thunderous applause to
die down. Vikram was in his handsome best and was
fresh from his Kenya trip where he had participated
in the UN Habitat program. In his speech he said
that Krishna the character that he did in Deiva
Thirumagan is very close to his heart. “Deiva
Thirumagan will definitely bring about a different
perception about differently abled people”.
He also added that director Vijay is his Deiva Thirumagan.
