The Deiva Thirumagal special screening for Behindwoods.com
contest winners was a very successful and well-organized
event. There were two shows – one at 11:00
am and the other at 3:00 pm. In between the shows,
the film’s lead star Vikram, director Vijay,
UTV Dhananjayan and baby Sara made a special appearance
for the guests, took photos with them and answered
their queries about the movie.
Vikram was at his best, down-to-earth as usual and
was interacting with everyone, cracked jokes and
made the audience go gaga.
At the start of the event, Mr. G Dhananjayan said
that he always had a special soft corner for Behindwoods.com.
Since Deiva Thirumagal was movie for the family,
he said he wanted the family audiences to see it
and therefore specifically arranged for two shows.
The response of the show was simply overwhelming
and the standing ovation at the end of the show
proved it beyond doubt. The director said that Deiva
Thirumagal got the same response at the multiplexes,
at the theatres, and at all the centers irrespective
of it being A, B, or C centre.
The question hour was very interesting with Vikram
and director Vijay answering all the queries patiently.
When someone from the audience wanted to know how
Vikram perfected the character Krishna he played
in the film, the star replied that he was at the
Vidya Sagar School for Special Children and studied
the behavior of a number of children there for over
a month and imitated their behavior.
On what made Vijay to even think of making a movie
like Deiva Thirumagal, he said that he wanted to
give such a film for the Tamil audience. The director
revealed that when he had the script ready for the
film, he decided that only Vikram could pull it
off. He added that if the star was not available
for the role, then the film would never have taken-off.
Vijay justified the climax by saying that Krishna
wanted his child to have a better future and understood
that she would get it only if she lived with her
maternal grandfather.
Both Vijay and Vikram said that there could be a
sequel to Deiva Thirumagal where Nila would grow
up to be a doctor and return to her dad. Vikram
jocularly remarked that they are waiting for little
Sara to grow up so that she could essay the role.
