After the rousing success of Aranmanai, Hansika has further established her already strong position in Tamil cinema. Her success rate is remarkable and this year has already given her hits in Tamil and Telugu as well. Packed with many more films opposite happening stars and quality directors, Hansika is definitely ‘high-profile’.

In this conversation with Kaushik for Behindwoods.com, Hansika felt very touched and thankful to the audience for accepting her in Aranmanai. More from the ‘Darling Dambakku’ as she talks about her career, her personal life and also responds gamely to a special rapid fire round.

“Power in Telugu and Aranmanai in Tamil have given me back to back hit weekends. Before the release of Aranmanai, I was tense and nervous about how people would accept my performance in Aranmanai as the role was new for me and a pretty daring and different attempt at such an early stage of my career. But I was confident that my role would make a mark despite making an entry only at the intermission point of the film.

The film is doing well even in its 3rd week, without much publicity or promotions from our end and is a genuine hit. Before the film's release, people asked me why I was so quiet but I wanted the film's content to speak loud and I am glad it has”

With the film ending with the scope for a sequel, will Hansika be willing to do Aranmanai 2 as well? With a smile she says, “Sundar sir is the right person to answer a question about the sequel”

What is it with Madam Queen-Bee ?

“I and Sundar sir are proving to be lucky for each other as both our ventures have proven to be successful. Now in his Aambala, which is a colorful commercial film, I play the main lead role opposite Vishal. Sundar sir calls me ‘Madam Queen-Bee’ on the sets and I am glad to be considered and called a lucky mascot by the industry”

Ask her if she would opt for adding the tag ‘Lucky Mascot’ to her name in the title cards of her movies and she smiles it away saying that she is lucky to have good fans, well-wishers and family members around her.

With a journey of more than 3 years in the Tamil film industry till date, Hansika admits that she has grown as an actor and as a star but remains the same person at heart. She is in a “a very happy space”, and thanks the media and her fans for the ongoing journey.

On the elements which she looks for in a film, before signing on, she says that the script and screenplay are the hero and heroine of a film.

If she is kicked about the film as a member of the audience, she would sign on gamely. The other factors like the director, co-stars and producer are of equal importance, says ‘Hansu’, as she is fondly called.

After quite a lot of frenzy surrounding her short lived relationship with a leading young actor, when we ask how she copes with such controversies and criticism, a poised response followed

“I haven't been controversy's favorite child. I have been raised in a normal manner and have never been involved in controversies, save the one over my previous relationship. I don't bother about them too much as at the end of the day, my mom, family members and the people who matter to me know what's going on with my life. I am not insecure as a person and am content with what I have. Depression and anger never stay long with me as I keep myself occupied and busy with work”

With work on films keeping her so busy, Hansika unwinds whenever she gets time by painting, working with colors, listening to narrations over the phone or trying out something with her looks. Will she branch out beyond acting and try singing? “No Thanks. I am happy being an actress” is her quick response with a chuckle.

And what about her comfort level with Tamil? Is dubbing in her own voice on the cards?

“I keep cribbing in Tamil (laughs) and people point out that I have the Chennai slang. I feel proud to hear such comments. Dubbing will take some more time but I am now comfortable with everyday lines in Tamil”

Though Hansika doesn’t believe in publicizing her philanthropic activities, her mother wishes that such acts from her daughter would inspire more people to follow suit and do something good for the society.

A quick, inevitable question on ‘Vijay 58’ was finally dropped and this is what we could get from her, on this much-guarded magnum opus, to be directed by Chimbudevan. “The film is very big and is something new for me. I can't reveal much for now, and the pre-production work is going on. I am also preparing for the role”
