Telangana passes bill to increase quotas for STs, Muslims

Both Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council of the state of Telangana have reportedly passed bills to hike reservations for Scheduled Tribes and Muslims. According to reports, the bill, passed on Sunday, will increase quota in jobs and education for the backward sections of Muslims from 4% to 12% and for STs from 6% to 12%. Notably, the percentage of reservation in Telangana will go up from current 50% to 62%.
