Tamil Nadu to issue 1.89 crore smart ration cards

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami on Saturday reportedly launched the 'smart family card scheme' in Korattur. By this plan, the government intends to issue 1.89 crore smart cards that can be used at the Public Distribution System outlets. The total cost of the scheme is said to be 330 crores. The project is expected to rule out the possibility of bogus ration cards.
