Tamil Nadu government has reportedly introduced a bill in Assembly to increase the penalty for allowing sewage flow in streets upto Rs 2 lakh. Stagnated sewage serves as a breeding ground for mosquitoes, thus posing health threats. The common sight of overflowing sewages across cities might have led to this decision.
