A 22-year-old Tamil fisherman was allegedly shot dead on Monday by the Sri Lankan navy at Rameshwaram. According to reports, the deceased fisherman was identified as K Britso from Thangachimadam was fishing at a short distance off Katchatheevu islet along with others and the Sri Lankan naval personnel arrived at the spot and opened fire. Britso was shot in the neck and died on the spot, said Fisheries Department Assistant Director Kolanchinathan.
