Supreme Court denies permission to woman to abort 27-week foetus

The Supreme Court on Monday refused permission to a women to abort her 27-week foetus showing signs of physical abnormalities. A bench of Judges referred to the reports of doctor and said that the baby might be “born alive” if the mother allowed aborting at this stage. The court also said that as per the doctor's opinion the physical conditions of the women are normal and there is no risk to her health. Notably, It is prohibited to terminate any pregnancy in India after 20 weeks.
