Shiv Sena members have allegedly closed as many as 500 meat shops, including a KFC outlet, in Old Gurugram on Wednesday. They also reportedly threatened the shop owners to shut their establishments on every Tuesday. Commencement of Navratri (the nine-day Hindu festival where devotees eat vegetarian food) is said to be the reason behind this forced shutdown. However, several shops were later reopened with the help from the local police.
