Sedition, anti-terror laws being misused: CPI(M)

The CPI(M) on Friday reportedly expressed concern in Parliament over the "misuse" of sedition and anti-terror laws against human rights and political activists and religious minorities adding these charges were being “used recklessly” and with a “political motive”. CPI(M) member Ritabrata Banerjee said the judiciary while awarding life sentences in some cases where Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act was slapped, has used “very harsh words”. He added, “But there have been a series of actual terror cases where the judiciary has no harsh words at all."
