Scientists to drill through world's highest glacier

Climate-change scientists are set to trek to the Himalayas, aiming to become the first to successfully drill into the Khumbu glacier, world's largest glacier which raises from 4,900 to 7,600 metres. Drilling in the 17-km-long glacier, positioned near Mount Everest in northeastern Nepal, will help examine the glacier's internal arrangements, how water passes through it and estimate its temperature.
