Several schools in India have become just mid-day meal schools, and the students are not detained in a particular class, HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar has said. "These schools were demoted to coming, eating and going," Javadekar added. Further, he stated that it was a severe problem that a class VI child was incapable of reading a class II lesson.
