TTV Dinakaran, former AIADMK Rajya Sabha lawmaker and the nephew of party general secretary VK Sasikala Natarajan on Friday was fined Rs 28 crore by the Madras High Court for his alleged money laundering and Benami transactions and violation in the 1996 FERA Appellate Board. The matter related to receipt of more than $10 million by Dinakaran in alleged violation of the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act in 1994-95. Notably, Dinakaran, along with several others of the Sasikala family was kicked out of the AIADMK by former TN CM Jayalalithaa in 2012.
