Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reportedly indicated that he want to make January-to-December fiscal year. The official statement of Modi's Niti Aayog's governing council meeting reads,"He (Modi) said there had been suggestions to have the financial year from January to December. He urged states to take the initiative in this regard". If done, this will change the dates for budget presentation and fiscal calendar, including the final date for filing tax returns.
