NASA has published new global maps of Earth at night, giving views of human settlement patterns across the planet. The maps, covering various regions across the globe including India, was done using remote sensing satellites. Using this, researchers can study how cities expand, observe light intensity to determine energy consumption and economic activity, and aid in disaster response, NASA said.
