Madhya Pradesh minister Gopal Bhargava has reportedly presented wooden bats as gifts to some 700 brides on Saturday. Bhargava allegedly instructed the brides to use the foot-long wooden bats on husbands if they turn alcoholic or exhibit harassing behaviour. Inscription on bats read, “Police won’t intervene,” encouraging its use on alcohol-dependent spouses.
