The Lok Sabha on Monday reportedly passed the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill 2016. By this bill, the legislators are expecting to lower the accidents and injuries on the roads. The bill reportedly has provisions to bring in the vehicle-makers responsible for design defects in the automobiles. Other than that, the law also holds road contractors accountable for the accidents, if poor maintenance was the reason behind it. The bill now has to get approval from the Rajya Sabha.
