Kerala Governor P Sathasivam reportedly announced a policy statement to set up a registry of sex offenders on Thursday. According to reports, the registry will contain the names and details of people who commit such crimes and will be kept in the public domain. Reports also added that the government is looking to create a separate department exclusively for women and will increase the number of women in the police force to 15%. The policy statement has been issued after a leading Malayalam actress was abducted and molested in her car by a gang.
