Mukesh Ambani-led telecom major Reliance Jio and digital payments wallet Paytm have reportedly apologised for using PM Modi's picture in their advertisements without prior consent or permission. This comes after the government sent notices to both companies under the Emblems and Names Act, which bars the use of the Prime Minister's name and picture for commercial purposes. Notably, Paytm had applauded demonetisation, while Jio claimed it furthered the Digital India move, using Modi’s photos in their respective ads.
