Following her embarrassing defeat in the Manipur Assembly elections, political activist Irom Sharmila announced her exit from electoral politics on Saturday. This comes after Sharmila received only 90 votes in the Thoubal constituency against sitting Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh of the Congress, who won 18,649 votes. "I don't feel ashamed of my defeat but am fed up of elections and won't contest again in future," she said.
