India among the top four in deaths by smoking

A study published by the Global Burden of Disease reveals that India is among the top four countries having the largest number of deaths attributable to smoking. The others being China, USA, and Russia. According to the study, 11·5 percent of the global deaths (6·4 million) were caused by smoking, of that more than 50 percent of them took place in the countries mentioned above.
