The Central Government on Monday backed the Supreme Court’s decision to make Aadhaar card mandatory for issuing PAN cards. Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi told the justice bench that the programme of PAN had become suspect as it could be faked while Aadhaar is a secure and robust system by which the identity of an individual cannot be faked. Further, he said that Aadhaar could curb the process of issuing fake PAN cards.
