Seeking the government’s reply over the petitions filed by opposition parties to defer the Union Budget, the Election Commission has reportedly written to Cabinet Secretary P K Sinha for a reply by January 10. The petition reportedly said that the BJP may offer sops to the voters so as to lure them for the upcoming Assembly elections in five states, which is against the model code of conduct.
