Alok Verma, Commissioner and former DGP of Delhi is reportedly in pole position to take over as the Chief of Central Bureau of Investigation, a post that has been vacant following the retirement of former chief Anil Sinha. A three-member committee led by PM Modi, Including Chief Justice of India JS Khehar and Congress leader in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge will reportedly decide the next chief. While Modi and Khehar have backed Verma, Kharge showed dissent and backed former CBI officer RK Datta for the job.
