Former Union Minister Akhilesh Das Gupta passed away in Lucknow on Wednesday after he suffered a massive heart attack and was rushed to a hospital in the wee hours, say reports. The 56-year-old former Rajya Sabha member was Minister for Steels in Congress government. Notably, Gupta is the son of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Banarsi Das Gupta. The former Mayor of Lucknow is survived by his wife, daughter and son.
