The Commissioner of Police S George who announced the promulgation of section 144 from January 29  in Chennai’s Marina beach said that the move to impose prohibitory orders came after several messages from anti-socials, anti-nationals, and miscreants asking students to congregate at Marina beach continued, causing confusion, despite warning and requests against it.  Further, George claimed that anti-national elements hijacked the students' protest in Marina Beach and termed them as the prime reason behind the violent protests last week.
