Chennai Corporation is reportedly planning to develop two waste-to-energy plants. According to reports, the waste-to-energy plants will be developed in the dump yards in Perungudi and Kodungaiyur at the cost of ₹2,400 crore. Notably, both the plants are expected to produce 58 MW of power by processing 5,000 tonnes of solid waste.
