ATMs running 30% short of cash 5 months after demonetisation

The shortage was attributed to banks' tendency to guarantee enough money for their consumers at branches. Notably, 86% of the money inflow was wiped out from the economy when the government declared demonetisation of old ₹500 and ₹1,000 notes.
