India’s largest telecom operator, Bharti Airtel after announcing the acquisition of Norway-based telecom major Telenor’s Indian operations, saw its shares catapult by 11%. Airtel, who along with other telecom majors suffered a slump in stocks, since the rise of Reliance Jio, saw its shares hit a one-year high. Notably, the takeover is expected to close in a year, with Airtel acquiring Telenor India's spectrum, licenses, operations, including its employees.
