Actor-turned politician J K Ritheesh has been booked on charges of cheating a US citizen of Indian origin to the tune of Rs 3 crore. The Central Crime Branch filed a FIR based on a complaint filed by S Athinarayanan. Ritheesh had promised the complainant a lucrative business deal and transfer of ownership of a plot of land three years ago, police said. The Madras high court had earlier issued an order directing the police to probe into the case.
