Ridhima Pandey, a 9-year-old girl from Uttarakhand, has registered a petition against the government for failing to take action on climate change. The appeal asks the National Green Tribunal to direct the government to prepare a "carbon budget" and climate recovery plan. The bench has asked the Ministry of Environment and Central Pollution Control Board to answer within two weeks.
