700 kg rare shark sold for 1.5 lakh in Maharashtra

A local fisherman from Maharashtra on Sunday morning reportedly hauled in a 700 kg longcomb sawfish. The fish was suspected to have died from suffocation as its snout was found entangled in the net. Noticeably, longcomb sawfish is listed ‘critically endangered’ in the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) list.  The fish was reportedly sold for Rs 1.5 lakh in the domestic market.
