40-50 years needed to clear weapons in Iraq and Syria

Agnes Marcaillou, Director of the United Nations Mine Action Service on Tuesday reportedly said that it would take 40 to 50 years to clear all the mines from Iraq and Syria. The clearing process is expected to take $170 million to $180 million, annually. According to reports, UN will spend $50 million out of the $170 million to get rid of the weaponry from Mosul alone.
